Section 8: Safety Considerations
Safety is a top priority when playing Marbles, especially with traditional glass marbles. While the game is generally safe for children and adults, there are risks involved.
Glass Marbles
- Shattering: Glass marbles can shatter if they hit a hard surface or another marble at high speed. This creates sharp shards that can cause cuts to skin or eyes.
- Eye Protection: It is highly recommended that players wear protective eyewear, especially when playing with glass marbles or in environments where other people are nearby.
- Safe Storage: Marbles should always be stored in a bag or box to prevent them from rolling away and breaking. Broken marbles should be disposed of safely.
Falls and Slips
Playing on uneven ground can lead to slips, trips, and falls. Players should be aware of their surroundings and avoid playing on slippery or unstable surfaces.
