Section 2: Equipment

Paddle: must appear on the UPA-A approved paddle list (separate from USAP-approved list); pro-only restrictions on core hardness and surface friction; PBCoR (Paddle-Ball Coefficient of Restitution) testing required
Paddle dimensions: combined length + width ≤ 24 in (61 cm); max length 17 in (43.18 cm)
Ball: UPA-A-spec perforated plastic ball (40 holes, 0.78–0.935 oz, 2.87–2.97 in diameter)
Indoor and outdoor ball variants; tour events typically use outdoor-spec for consistency

Section 3: Playing Area

Court: 20 ft × 44 ft (6.10 m × 13.41 m) — same as USAP

Service area: between baseline and NVZ line, split into right/left service courts

Section 5: Rules of Play

Service

Two-Bounce Rule

Returning team must let serve bounce; serving team must let return bounce — then volleys allowed

Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen)

Equipment violation: paddle off the approved list → DQ from event + potential fine
Replay protocol for line-call disputes; video review at TV-televised events

Section 8: Safety Considerations

Pro Pickleball is a low-impact racquet sport; primary injury risks are ankle sprains (rapid lateral movement), Achilles strain, and shoulder/elbow overuse. Tour events require an on-site athletic trainer + AED + EMT. Court surfaces must meet UPA-A grip + bounce standards. Heat protocols for outdoor venues (water breaks, medical timeouts permitted between games). Concussion-evaluation protocol in place. Paddles undergo PBCoR testing pre-event for ball-launch-speed compliance — over-spec paddles disqualified.
