Section 7: Violations & Penalties
Fair play is crucial in Freeze Tag. Violations can lead to penalties that affect the flow of the game and fairness.
Common Violations
- Running While Tagged: If a player runs after being tagged by an "It" player, they are immediately considered frozen. They cannot move until unfrozen.
- Improper Unfreezing: Only a teammate who is currently "Safe" can unfreeze a frozen player. If an "It" player tries to unfreeze their own teammate, it is a violation.
- Tagging the Wrong Person: A player cannot tag someone who is already frozen. They must wait for a teammate to unfreeze them first.
- Foul Play: Hitting, shoving, or tripping opponents is strictly prohibited.
Penalties
Penalties are usually enforced by the players themselves or a referee in organized settings.
- Warning: For a first minor infraction, the player may receive a warning.
- Freeze: For repeated violations, the offending player may be declared frozen for a set period (e.g., 30 seconds) or until the end of the game.
- Elimination: In severe cases (like dangerous behavior), the player may be removed from the game entirely.
