Section 8: Safety Considerations
Safety is paramount in Freeze Tag due to the high-speed running and sudden stops involved. Players must prioritize safety over winning.
Running and Movement
- Watch Your Step: Players should be aware of their footing, especially on grass or uneven ground. Running too fast can lead to slips and falls.
- Clear the Path: Players should avoid running into other players, especially those who are frozen and standing still. A collision with a frozen player can cause injury.
- Stop and Wait: When a player is frozen, they must stand still. They should not try to move or dodge the "It" player.
Environment
- Avoid Hazards: Do not run near walls, fences, or obstacles. In Wall Tag variations, be careful not to lean against walls.
- Weather: Play should be suspended during extreme weather conditions (rain, lightning, extreme heat).
- Footwear: While not strictly required by standard rules, wearing appropriate shoes is highly recommended to prevent blisters and injuries.
Injury Prevention
If a player feels pain or discomfort, they should immediately stop and inform the game leaders. Hydration breaks should be taken regularly during long games.
