Section 4: Players & Officials
Freeze Tag is typically played without officials or referees. Players are responsible for enforcing the rules among themselves, though a designated "captain" may be chosen to oversee the game.
Teams
- Team A (It Players): At the start of the game, one or two players from each team are designated as "It" (or "Freezers"). Their goal is to tag players from the opposing team.
- Team B (Safe Players): The remaining players on the opposing team are "Safe." Their goal is to avoid being tagged and, if they get frozen, to be unfrozen by a teammate.
- Team Balance: Ideally, teams should have equal numbers of players to ensure fair play. If the total number of players is odd, one player may start as "It" for both teams.
Officials
In casual play, no officials are needed. In organized leagues or tournaments, a referee may be present to resolve disputes regarding whether a player was properly tagged or unfrozen.
