Section 4: Players & Officials
Players
A standard game works with three or more players. There is no fixed maximum, although large groups should be divided into heats when the available space cannot support safe movement. All active players begin each round outside the seats and follow the announced route.
Players are responsible for moving safely, reacting only to the stop signal, claiming no more than one seat, and avoiding deliberate contact. Eliminated players must promptly leave the playing area and must not interfere with later rounds.
Music Operator and Organizer
At least one non-player should manage the music and resolve disputed outcomes. The same person may serve as organizer, or a second observer may be appointed for larger groups.
The music operator should vary the length of playing intervals and avoid a predictable pattern. The operator should not intentionally favor a player, provide countdowns, repeatedly watch one person for timing cues, or stop the music at a moment selected to benefit a particular participant.
The organizer checks the number and condition of seats, starts each round, observes player conduct, identifies the player without a seat, removes one seat after each elimination, and pauses play when safety requires it. Decisions should be prompt, consistent, and explained in simple language.
Sportsmanship
Players should accept decisions without argument, leave the area graciously when eliminated, and avoid teasing anyone who loses a round. Adults supervising children should emphasize fun and safe participation rather than aggressive competition.
