Section 2: Equipment
The following equipment is required for this version of the game. Teams should inspect all materials before play so that prompts remain secret, drawings remain visible, and timing is consistent.
Required Equipment
- Cards: A supply of cards bearing age-appropriate words or phrases. Each card should present one clearly selectable prompt, or use numbered categories that identify which prompt the drawer must use. Players may prepare homemade cards as long as nobody sees the prompts before the game.
- Markers: At least one visible marker for drawing. Provide additional markers if teams will draw simultaneously. All markers used in a round should offer comparable visibility.
- Timer: A timer capable of measuring the agreed turn length and giving a clear signal when time expires. The standard turn lasts 60 seconds.
- Score sheets: Sheets large enough to serve as the drawing surface, with a separate portion or additional sheet used to record team points and completed turns. Start each turn with a clean drawing area.
Prompt Preparation
Mix the cards thoroughly and keep their prompt sides concealed. Prompts should be understandable to the participating age group and should avoid private information, slurs, or material likely to embarrass a player. If players created the cards, one neutral person should combine and randomize them.
Equipment Equality
Every team must receive equivalent access to drawing space, markers, and viewing distance. Replace a dry marker or an illegible score sheet immediately. If equipment failure materially interrupts a turn, stop the timer and restart that turn with the same prompt once the problem is corrected.
