Tripping Ropes
Why People Get This Wrong
People often assume that tripping over your own rope is just a minor mistake in timing, leading to an easy penalty of stopping for a second or two. However, the confusion arises because in Double Dutch, maintaining rhythm and flow is everything; even a brief moment out of sync can cause a loss of rhythm, which is why the turner must stop completely and cannot restart until ropes are turned again.
