Section 5: Rules of Play
Why People Get This Wrong
People often assume that choosing a gap secretly means it's supposed to be kept hidden from all other players, leading to misunderstandings about whether teammates can know which gap is chosen or if they should guess randomly. The confusion arises because the rule doesn't explicitly state who needs to know the chosen gap, and different interpretations lead to arguments over fairness and strategy.
Official Verdict
For a simple no-break challenge, the calling team secretly chooses a gap, the runner names a gap, and the choice is revealed. A match is a successful attempt; a non-match is unsuccessful.
