Pictionary is a team guessing game in which one player communicates a secret word or phrase by drawing while teammates try to identify it before time expires. The drawer may turn an idea into pictures, symbols, diagrams, or a sequence of images, but may not communicate through speech, writing, ge...
An answer is correct when it communicates the same word or phrase shown on the card. Harmless grammatical differences may be accepted, but a broader related concept is not enough.
Adjust the height and placement of the drawing surface so every drawer can use it comfortably. Players may draw while seated.
Alternative scoring must be announced before the game and applied equally to every team.
All-play round: Every team receives the same prompt and draws simultaneously. The first team to call out the exact answer earns the point.; Steal chance: If the active team fails, each opposing team receives one guess in turn. The first correct steal earns one point.; Rapid draw: Use 30-second tu...
The turn ends immediately when the active team gives an accepted answer or when time expires. The drawer then reveals the card, the scorekeeper records the result, and play passes to the next team.
Players should settle disagreements promptly and in good faith. The scorekeeper may ask the drawer to reveal the card after the turn and compare it with the accepted guess.
The drawer may not speak, mouth words, hum, make sound effects, act out the answer, trace letters in the air, indicate the number of letters or syllables with fingers, or signal whether a guess is close. Facial reactions should be kept neutral.
Place the drawing surface where it remains visible to every eligible guesser on the active team.; Keep the card supply face down or otherwise concealed from all guessers.; Set the timer where the timekeeper can operate it reliably.
A clear drawing violation ends the turn and the active team receives no point. Accidental marks that merely resemble letters or numbers may be erased without penalty if they convey no useful information.
Every team must receive equivalent access to drawing space, markers, and viewing distance. Replace a dry marker or an illegible score sheet immediately.
