Flip Cup is a team relay game in which players empty a small, equally measured serving from a cup and then try to flip that cup from the edge of a table so that it lands upside down. Once a player succeeds, the next teammate begins. The first team to complete its entire line wins the round.
Alcohol is optional and should never be treated as a condition of participation. Follow all applicable age restrictions, venue policies, and local laws.
When a long table is unavailable, teams may use opposite ends or separate equal tables, provided the surfaces are comparable and every player has a safe flipping edge. The layout must be announced before the round and must not give either team a material advantage.
Stop play for confusion, inability to remain awake, repeated vomiting, seizure, slow or irregular breathing, pale or bluish skin, or loss of consciousness. Seek emergency medical help immediately.
The playing area should provide at least an arm's length of clear space behind each team where practical. Spectators, bags, cords, chairs, and breakable objects must be kept away from players and from places where missed cups are likely to fall.
House variations must be announced before the match. They should apply equally to both teams and must never override the safety and consent provisions in this rulebook.

A neutral starter's immediate ruling controls when one was appointed. Without a neutral starter, team captains should seek agreement based on what was plainly observed.
An accidental spill caused solely by the active player is treated as an incomplete serving: refill the cup and continue that leg. If an opponent, spectator, unstable table, or defective cup caused the spill, pause play, restore equal conditions, and resume from the affected leg.
Cups should be clean, undamaged, and dry on the outside before the round begins. Cracked glass, ceramic vessels, metal cups with sharp edges, and containers that could shatter or injure a player are unsuitable.
A cup that lands on the floor, on another cup, in a player's hand, or upright does not complete the leg. A cup hanging over the edge is valid only if it has stopped moving, is inverted, and remains supported without being held.
