Foundational federation milestone — dodgeball's international rule-making authority. Formed in 2011, the World Dodgeball Federation (WDBF) sought to unite different continents into one federation. The 2011 founding established WDBF as the canonical international federation for sanctioned competitive dodgeball, predating the 2012 first World Championship by just one year and reflecting the federation's rapid post-founding momentum. Federation-side milestone — first WDBF-sanctioned international championship. In 2012, the first Dodgeball World Championship was held in Kuala Lumpur, just one year after the WDBF's 2011 founding. The Dodgeball World Championship has been held annually since 2012, making it one of the youngest sustained international championship events in this backfill. Every modern WDBF rule on contest format, weight (no weight class — but team composition rules), ball specifications, and arena standards has been refined through successive World Championship cycles since the 2012 inaugural event.

Federation growth milestone — WDBF's expansion to global scale. In 2021, WDBF's membership reached 80 members, all also members of the relevant continental federations. The 2021 milestone established WDBF as a globally-sized governing body with continental-federation integration (Dodgeball Continental Confederations covering Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, Oceania). The continental-federation integration is structurally similar to FIBA, FIVB, and other globally-distributed federations, giving WDBF the regulatory architecture to administer regional qualifying events for the World Championship cycle and to coordinate rule harmonization across continents.
