Crazy Eights is a shedding game: match the top of the discard pile by rank or suit, and be first to empty your hand. Eights are wild — play one at any time and name the suit that continues.
An eight may be played on anything. The player then names the suit that the next player must match.
The first player with no cards left ends the hand.
Draw from the stock until you can play, then play that card — the most common rule.; Some groups draw only one card and then pass. Agree before dealing; this is the single biggest rules difference between households.; If the stock is exhausted and you still cannot play, your turn passes.

One standard 52-card deck for two to five players; two decks for six or more.; All four eights are wild.; Jokers are not used in the base game.
Two players: 7 cards each. Three or more: 5 each.; The rest becomes the stock, face down.; Turn the top card face up to start the discard pile. If it is an eight, bury it and turn another.
Play one card matching the top of the discard pile by rank or by suit — a 9♥ onto a 9♠, or any heart onto a heart.
The player who goes out scores the cards left in every other hand: Each eight: 50 points; Face cards (K, Q, J): 10 points; Aces: 1 point
Crazy Eights Countdown: start with eight cards; each hand you win reduces your deal by one.; Action cards: 2 forces a draw of two, queen skips, ace reverses — the step that leads directly to UNO.; Stacking: answering a draw-two with another so the penalty accumulates.
