Section 2: Equipment
Why People Get This Wrong
People often assume that only football boots with studs are required, forgetting about sprigs which can be equally suitable for playing surfaces like grass. But they overlook that Law 4 specifically prohibits anything that could cause injury, so even if sprigs seem safe at first glance, they might still fall under the "equipment likely to cause injury" category and thus wouldn't be allowed.
Official Verdict
The football is governed by Law 4. It must be of symmetrical oval shape, 720-730 millimetres in circumference and 545-555 millimetres transverse circumference, and inflated to a pressure of 69 kPa (Law 4.1).
