Section 7: Violations & Penalties
- Faults causing loss of rally: ball out, four contacts, double contact (controlled), catch/throw, hand-setting violation, net touch, antenna contact, foot fault on serve, illegal server (out of rotation)
- Center-line fault (updated): completely crossing the center line with a foot or feet is a fault on contact, with no referee judgment on interference required — this is a change from the prior interference-based standard for foot faults specifically. Completely crossing the center line with any other part of the body remains legal unless it interferes with the opponent's play or endangers the opponent, in which case it is still a fault.
- Misconduct: warning, penalty (yellow card), expulsion (red, out for set), disqualification (yellow + red, out for match)
